The Vortex Open Recorder and Playback System with AES-256 data encryption/decryption protects data from unauthorized use and is Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) certified. This recording system is an example of integration work performed by VMETRO's Applications Group.
The Vortex AES-256 (Advanced Encryption Standard algorithm specified by NIST) Data Encryption/Decryption Recording and Playback System enables sensor data acquired over SerialFPDP to be handled in one of three modes: data recording mode, data pass-through mode and playback mode. Secure data is encrypted prior to storage on a Fibre Channel Storage Area Network. Thus, the storage devices are not classified which makes handling, shipping and clearing the device easier.
The Vortex AES Data Encryption/Decryption System contains all components needed to record and playback these streams of data from a RAID storage device.
