VMETRO Signs a Contract for Delivery of Integrated Solid State Recorder Systems

Press Release - September 28, 2007

VMETRO has through its subsidiary VSYSTEMS Electronic GmbH in Germany, signed a contract with EADS Deutschland GmbH worth more than EUR 2 million.

The contract is for the delivery of integrated real-time solid state data recorder systems based on VMETRO’s product family. Delivery is expected in 2007 and 2008. The subsystems will be used in the Euro Hawk Program.

“We will deliver an application specific recorder system tailored to EADS’ demanding project requirements and we are pleased that we were chosen for this important program,” says Stephan Troesch, General Manager of VSYSTEMS Electronic GmbH.

Dietmar Blaser, Chief Engineer for the program at EADS says: “We selected VMETRO for this program as we are convinced that they will be able to deliver such a multi-channel recorder and playback system customized to our needs and that the system will be compliant with our requirements for this high altitude and space constraint application.”

VMETRO’s strategy is to expand the product offering within embedded computing towards becoming a total systems supplier. Data recording and storage is an important part of this and our product portfolio in this segment is growing.

“This contract demonstrates our leadership in delivering key capabilities in such a very demanding application” says Christian Jebsen, CEO of VMETRO.

About Euro Hawk:
After involvement in recent conflicts, military forces throughout Germany have a more urgent need for immediate access to sensitive and secure intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) information in near real time to support political and military decision makers for crisis management, conflict prevention, and to command forces.

EADS and Northrop Grumman are developing a system tailored to the specific needs of the German customer.

The Euro Hawk is a derivative of the Global Hawk High-Altitude Long-Endurance Unmanned Air Vehicle system developed by Northrop Grumman, equipped with a new SIGINT mission system developed by EADS. It will replace the aging fleet of Breguet Atlantic aircraft, which have been in service since 1972. The SIGINT system provides stand-off capability to detect electronic intelligence (ELINT) radar emitters and communications intelligence (COMINT) emitters.

EADS will also provide the ground stations that will receive and analyze the data from Euro Hawk as part of an integrated system solution.

EADS (European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company) is a global leader in aerospace, defence and related services. The Group includes the aircraft manufacturer Airbus, the world's largest helicopter supplier Eurocopter and EADS Astrium, the European leader in space programs from Ariane to Galileo.
