VMETRO adds RAID and SBOD storage

Press Release - November 6, 2007

VMETRO today announced the availability of three storage devices for use with its Vortex data recording solutions. The rack mount storage units extend VMETRO’s storage product line by providing 4Gb fibre channel RAID and Switched Bunch of Disks (SBOD) options. These products are suited for applications in digital signal analysis and data collection systems such as Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR), Electronic Intelligence (ELINT), COMINT, SIGINT, Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), Moving Target Indicators (MTI), Software Defined Radio (SDR) as well as medical scanners and industrial inspection systems.

The storage devices include:
  • The VS-SBOD 3U, 16-disk (up to 6.4TB) storage system offers a very flexible solution with high performance through the use of a switched topology backplane and redundant quad 4Gb fibre channel initiators to the drives.

  • The VS-FY5x 2U, 12-disk (up to 9.0TB) RAID storage system utilizes FC to SAS/SATA single or dual RAID Controllers to provide high performance and scalability at affordable pricing. The VS-FY5x supports various RAID levels and has an optional 2U expansion chassis that doubles the storage up to 18.0TB

  • The VS-F48D 4U, 48-disk RAID storage system utilizes FC to SAS/SATA dual RAID Controllers to provide up to 36TB of storage capacity with low power consumption per TB. It supports various RAID levels and has an optional 4U expansion chassis that doubles the storage up to 72TB.
