High Speed Serial Interconnect Technologies Seminar

The focus of the seminar or lunch-n-learn is high-speed serial interconnect technologies – the multi-gigabit serial links used in a variety of applications today such as sFPDP, fiber channel, VXS, XMC modules, VPX, ATCA, AMC modules, sATA and SAS and available in FPGAs such as the Xilinx Virtex-5 or Virtex-II Pro and the Stratix GX.

There will also be discussion on why the shift from parallel buses to high speed serial interconnects is occurring, the fundamentals of high-speed serial technologies, and the fundamentals of point-to-point and switched fabric protocols (e.g., Aurora, sFPDP, sRIO, PCI Express, etc.).

We take a look at some of the relevant standards that make use of high-speed serial interconnects (i.e., sFPDP, XMC modules, VXS, and VPX) and how these technologies can be applied to build embedded systems.

Examples of products based on high-speed serial interconnects will be available to see and hold. Demonstrations of a VXS system and a PCI Express analyzer allow you to see these technologies in action.
