The VS-SBOD provides a highly flexible, high performance SBOD storage solution.
The VS-SBOD is a 3U rack-mount, high-performance, storage device that can accommodate up to 16 low profile FC disk drives for up to 6.4 TB of storage. Using 1, 2 or 4 Gb/s Fibre Channel switched topology backplane and redundant quad initiator ports this 3U storage device can perform in a variety of switched loop configurations. In a four loop configuration the SBOD achieves an aggregate sustained throughput of 1.28 GB/s inner track performance.
It is a perfect partner to VMETRO's Vortex data recorder family. Some application examples include:
1) Four Vortex Data Recorders with Dual 4Gb/s Fibre Channel output can write to a group of 4 disks on the VS-SBOD at a rate of 320 MB/s per board on Port A. For a total bandwidth of 1.28 GB/s! Four workstations can access the same disk groups on the SBOD using Port B.

2) A single 6U Vortex Data Recorder with Quad 4 Gb/s Fibre Channel output can write to the SBOD at a rate of 800 MB/s on Port A while 4 workstations can access the disk groups on Port B.

Please contact your local representative for the appropriate system configurations to meet your program requirements.
